Lord Harewood (Harewood House) has been served at this small shop. It's a well grounded business, and I'll be happy there. It opens a lot of doors for me, and they offer education and training. I could become the manager of any jewellers after doing a few years here. It'll mean packing in this years college courses and my job at TESCO, but I believe it'll be worth it and I believe it's the next step to take in my life. I'm happy about the whole thing and I've already worked there from time to time. I like the staff and the customers, and the atmosphere there is very friendly. So yeah, I'm 24 years old, and I'm going to be a jeweller. Sounds good to me.

A bit fed up

Yeah, I've still got a lot on my plate. I'm currently using the college computers, which I probably should do more often.

This has been a difficult few weeks, with people suffering all kinds of stress from exams and other influences. It's put quite a few people on the edge, and friendships have suffered and torn a fair bit, but they're not beyond repair.

I've had a lot going on too. A total of 11 exams with six still left. Marriages happening left, right and centre. Family stuff and of course the approaching download festival. Yes, I'm going to be seeing quite a few live bands including Metallica, Korn and Trivium. There have been countless problems with the tickets though, and although I was only deciding to go for the Saturday, I might end up seeing the whole weekend. Who knows?

It's nice to see a fair few of my friends have been actively blogging again though. Especially Andy Munzer, and lets hope we keep it up this time. Must be off now, but here's a quick thought from Tommy Cooper, "I went shopping for souvenirs. I got hold of a Chinese backscratcher, but my wife wouldn't let me take her home. When I did get back from Hong Kong, I wrote a poem. It was in Chinese, but I could never translate it."

Between entries...

Ok, I've got stuff to write, and I'll do it later... Andrew Munzers wedding has been and gone and now he's on his honeymoon. It was an incredible event and while there with my friends James and Hayden, I met Lindsey too (pictured). Well, we all got to hang out yesterday and had loads of fun. Amongst other things there was a drive past the harry potter railway line in north yorkshire, a visit to the big white horse on the side of the hill, and a trip to whitby too. Despite smashing up my ankle (though it's not broken) We had a really good time and sometimes time is just needed to relax with friends too, so a roadtrip and a few picturesque areas was greatly appreciated. What an amazing day with just the right weather for the whole thing too.

Back from the dead

I'm back with another nice picture for you to see. It's my funky brother Sandy, all dressed up to show off his killer guitar skills.

Well, it's been a long tine since I posted anything, but then I realised, "Hey, forget parental controls messing things up for me at home, I can use the computers at college to blog, and so I am. A lot has happened since I last commented about anything on here, and so I won't go into too much detail about anything. I'll sum up though:

-Andrew Munzer is getting married in just over a month

-I am still working in Hell, or 'Morrisons' for those who don't know where it is

-I'm doing my best to change institute because it's lame this year, and people just don't care about each other as much any more

-I'm feeling pretty good about life, the universe and everything at the moment.

-I'm liking a particular young lady at institute and she's lovely, but is difficult, because she always puts up loads of barriers whenever anybody gets close

-I'm dead impressed with Ashley for being so good at blogging and telling everybody about life.

As for other things, I wonder if the three muskateers will ever get together again, or if they were permenantly disbanded when Andy went to Bristol. I'll also try to blog more often, and be a better 'me' than I have been. Hope Everyone is glad I did this. It's hilarious and fun to read, and I'm really enjoying it. It's like the sound of a soft meringue melting gently on a warm plate."

Three weeks gone, lots went on

Well, what a time I've had, and despite being extremely busy, I haven't been writing because I've been focused on other things.

Recently, apart from the convention, I went on a day trip with my family to Brimam Rocks and had great fun traversing the difficult terrain. I really like climbing and walking, but we also went berry picking too. Then there was a torrential downfall of rain, but having an alert dad helped us get back to the car just before the heavens opened.

I went travelling too and saw my good friend Andrew, and spent some time with him and his new friends in Bristol before heading off to Birmingham. Around the areas surrounding Birmingham I visited the lands of my mission. It was amazing to meet up with my mission president and go on exchanges with missionaries I served with. It was great to visit a ward I served in for Sundays church meetings too! I had an incredible experience in one area where rather than visit the people who fed me most or the 'strong families' I went to visit the weak and simple members who were in hospital and suchlike. It felt really good to do a simple act of service like that.

Now I've gone back to college. A lack of desire to work while I was young took its toll on my results at the time. I saw wisdom in going back to study A-levels, so I can get a good university degree afterwards, and be able to support a wife and family. So for the next couple of years, its Physics, Chemistry, Maths and I.T. for me. I'm excited, happy, and I love learning. Fantastic!

Manchester convention - some photos

<img style="FLOAT: left; Costing £100, I thought that the whole experience probably wouldnt be worth it. The dance on the friday night was fun, and everything seemed to be well organized. We had a room each (for 937 people) with a bathroom each too. Friday was pleasant, and it was fun to make new friends and meet up again with old ones. It had it's spiritual moment too, reflecting briefly on the life of Joseph Smith. There was also a moment of Craziness with Superman dancing with two Supergirls.

Saturday began early for me. I was in a room reading the book of mormon until breakfast was served. Breakfast was followed by a devotional, and a choir practice or service activity. Then after lunch we had various workshops. I opted for massage, which I found not only interesting, because I learned lots of new things, but also quite entertaining too. Then a music workshop where people were told about different genres of LDS music and given advice on writing their own music. Then there was a Jive class where I was able to dance with loads of beautiful women, and learned some new moves too! After a barbeque, and a chill out session with a couple of guitars and a barbeque, there was a formal ball. Not just any formal ball though. This had a live Jazz band, two chocolate fountains, and dodgems outside! It was the best dance I've ever been to! The music was amazing, and the dancing competition which took place was phenomenal too!

Sunday was a special day. After another early breakfast was a sacrament meeting where all 1000 people sat in reverence as myself and 17 other priesthood holders either prepared or passed the sacrament. The talks were inspiring and motivating, and the atmosphere was reverent and carried an abundance of the spirit too. Both Elder Lund and his wife talked about the importance of marriage to us. I learned a lot in priesthood too where we discussed eliminating errors from the way we understand and use the priesthood. Then after another choir rehersal, and a brief dinner, we performed the 'My servant Joseph' cantana by kenneth cope. The singing, the insturuments and the accompaning spirit were amazing, and the unity felt was awesome too.
We stayed up until the early hours, after that talking and having fun - just enjoying each others company for as long as possible.

Monday started with breakfast and another devotional - mentioning marriage a lot again, followed by more workshops including a film workshop I attended where we made a short horror film about some YSA who through lack of sleep turned into zombies. I was a YSA zombie! Also there were some games of the restoration, such as stick pulling too. Finally the convention ended with a closing ceremony by Stephen Stewart and a small group of YSA. We also sang Jerusalem, and there were a few closing remarks by people who got quite emotional. I also got pretty emotional too.

The whole event without a doubt was worth it though. Even if not for the material things, the feelings I had and the friends I made no amount of money can buy those. I am greatful for this weekend and the level at which it helped me.

Ugly or beautiful???

We have a load of these growing in my front garden at the moment. My sisters both have birthdays very close to my own too, so despite working, I've still been able to get out and enjoy myself. On Monday I went with my sisters to Lightwater Valley which isn't the King of theme parks, but was still great fun. Take 'The Ultimate' coaster for example. Fast, bumpy, thrilling meandering insanity for about 1 1/2 miles! Hense the fantastic blurry photo I was able to take of my delighted face. I love the adrenaline rush from something so safe, yet so un-natural that gets you either incredibly excited or incredibly scared. It was all good fun, and I even managed to get my terrified sister on it too!

By the way, for those who forgot my birthday, don't feel guilty about it. I'd still like to hear from you though, so call me or text me or give me money. Mostly, I remember him from the programme Record Breakers. He always seemed to be smiling, positive and showed me that if you put your mind to something, you can accomplish it. I hope I am able to meet him after this life and talk with him about how he always gave me hope and confidence when I was little...

"It is as a presenter of the BBC TV programme Record Breakers (with his self-penned signature tune 'Dedication's What You Need') that Roy is best remembered. During his 22 series on the show, Roy gained no less than eight listings in the Guinness Book of Records, including the world records for the fastest tap-dancer (1,440 Taps Per Minute, 24 beats per second), playing one tune on 43 different instruments in four minutes and a 3-hour 23 minute wing-walk. It was with the typical optimism that he was renowned for that, in 1992, he announced one final 'record' he intended to break - surviving cancer. Roy Castle was diagnosed with lung cancer despite being a lifelong non-smoker (it's believed he was a victim of what has become known as 'passive smoking' due to his time working in smokey clubs). Nevertheless, he amazed all with his enthusiastic, positive attitude to his predicament, drawing on his devout faith in Christianity and his determination not to let his final years go to waste. He became the figurehead for the Cause for Hope Lung Cancer Appeal (later renamed the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation) and spent his last months raising money for the future development of the world's first 'International Centre for Lung Cancer Research' on his 'Tour of Hope', a massive 1200-mile walk around the UK. Despite warnings from his surgeon, Roy used every last vestige of energy to promote the cause, knowing full well that his time was short. He told reporters at the time: My ambition was always that, when I came to my last days, I wanted to be able to look behind me and smile. During this time, he also completed his autobiography, Now and Then, which was a candid account of his life, including his long and varied career as well as his own reaction to the news of his illness. Roy Castle finally lost his battle with cancer on 2 September, 1994, two days after his 62nd birthday. He was survived by his wife for over 30 years, Fiona, and his four children. His son Ben has followed in his father's footsteps, becoming a noted jazz musician. Among the many tributes that followed, Roy's name was given to a train, the 47786 'Roy Castle OBE' . His name has also been used for a 'Clean Air' award given to pubs, restaurants and other public areas that refuse to allow smoking on their premises.

I want a Jackson guitar

I've wanted a Jackson guitar for quite a long time now. Unfortunately they're quite expensive. However the idea of an incredible sounding self epitomising guitar appeals to me tremendously. Some of them are extremely beautiful and have intricate artwork on them. Some are quite bizarre like the racing car guitar on the left. They pretty much make anything you want as long as you're willing to pay for it. I don't need one, but it would be nice to have one someday.

As far as my guitar skills go, they're progressing slowly. I can't wait for my brother to come back from his mission because it was playing together with him that I improved fastest. I look forward to playing solos in harmony with him again, and just being able to play new and interesting things. In the meantime, I'll be listening out for great new songs to play, and dreaming of a Jackson guitar.

A tribute to one who inspires me...

Ok everybody. This is Hannah Bridges, and she deserves a mention. To sum up her story she's 21 and from Tamworth. A few months ago she was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer which grew quickly and terribly. For the last few months she has undergone lots of surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy which has made her awfully ill and has had the usual effects too, such as severely weakening her immune system.

I got to know Hannah a few years ago, and quickly became friends. I was always impressed with her outgoing nature, her desire to make friends and her beautiful singing voice. She's also good looking, but has been blessed with such a profound love for everybody that the immediate effect she has on people when she enters a room is joy! I served in her ward as a missionary, and I've enjoyed the few times I've met up with her since my mission.

She is going through a tough time. Her treatment ends in November, but despite all she's gone through she remains just as positive. Despite all the pain, she still smiles for everyone. She is truly awesome, lovely, talented, caring and christlike and we all love her. We all wish her all the good things of our hearts!

Seasons of Joy...

Well, now that the parental controls on my computer have ceased to be randomly selective on the normal sites I can look at, I am able to blog again which I am thrilled about, considering the amazing weekend just passed. Now I didn't get any photos of the events myself which is a shame, so I hope Andy will forgive me for using one of his.

As you can see with James and Andrew all in white, James's baptism has been and gone. It was a glorious event too. I've been to the baptisms of people I've taught on my mission. I have baptised people myself. I've seen members in my own family baptised as they have grown. This one has no equal though. To see how much James has changed and how much faith it took is incredible. He's been a good friend of mine for a while, but has known Andrew for so long. I don't know what changed him in the end, but If you ask him, he'll be happy to tell you. He now has a strong testimony and knows how it feels to be full of the spirit to the point of being overwhelmed! He saw how much his friends love him too. My coming all the way from Bradford seemed so small in comparison with Andrew who went from Bristol, Stacey from Leicester, Charlotte from Northwich and Hannah Bridges from Tamworth (Which I'll write about later). The day was perfect and I'm sure James will remember it throughout the eternities. I had the privilege of being able to assist in his confirmation and ordination on Sunday too. The title of this blog sums everything up in the best way. Seasons of Joy. Thanks for the experience!

My mum signed me in! Picked the perfect moment to take it!

Well, it seems I finally managed to get a post on here but only after asking my mum to sign me in. Only problem with parental controls is the fact that they sometimes block perfectly fine sites. Ah well, it keeps us safe though.
Anyway, this week has been rather excellent. Things have been working out smoothly, but I admit my disposition has been rather pleasant, even when things went wrong. I almost have finished the new harry potter book, but gave it back with about seventy pages left because I was borrowing it. Not much regret. The endings are always exciting, but I find that the writer keeps resurrecting the same old plots time and time again. For instance Snape's being bad, no good, no bad, no good.... Getting tired of it. On the brighter side though I've been accepted into Bradford College to study Maths, Physics and Chemistry, with additional IT starting in September. I'll be spending a fair amount of time in the gym and the beauticians too. I suppose its an important year, what with my friends going round with young ladies attached to their arms, and I have decided it might do me good to improve my tone a bit. Who knows? Perhaps my motives for getting fit are a little selfish, though my mission president said you should only be selfish with employment, and who you marry in life.

Enough of that anyway. Tomorrow shall be fantastic. James Banks's baptism, and by looking at my friends blogs, I'm sure you'll see he's picked up quite a few good chums over the last few months, and years. I have tonnes of respect for him, and will continue to be his brother as one of Andrew Munzers Muskateers. There were originally only three official muskateers, but as I get closer to my friends, I realize there are more and more spread far and wide. I've decided James is one now.

So life is high and mighty for me, although I'm trying to stay in the background and make sure everything just goes like it's supposed to for everyone else. See many of you on Saturday the 23rd of July 2005 - James Banks's Baptism!

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://electrichappiness.blogspot.com/2005/07/my-mum-signed-me-in-so-take-time-and.html' title='My mum signed me in! The answer for that is simple. I'm trying so hard to make people understand that there is something I have which is so much more important to me, and to everyone else than all of the other talents combined. I never say much about it at all. It's something which has to be studied, but the apostle Paul says a few words concerning it:

Paul extols the high status of charity—Charity, a pure love, excels and exceeds almost all else.

1 THOUGH I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Also, I decided that i should put a link in here from a talk by James E Faust which ought to be able to help anybody: http://www.lds.org/library/display/0,4945,2043-1-3116-1,00.html

Hope everybody has a wonderful day. What a brilliant evening though. I was worried nobody would show up but Matthew Slyman arrived close to seven o clock, at which point we both dashed off for ice cream, returning to find Charlotte Evans, Sarah Smith and John McConnachie (hope I spelt that right) there too. Later on we would welcome Simon, James (Banksy), Stacey, Roberta and Jenny. There were only ten of us, but things were fine, with soul music and the talent of creedence clearwater revival playing lightly in the background. Many different flavours of ice cream, many different toppings, but the best thing was the social aspect. The people there were fantastic and made the evening. Good conversation, good music, good games and good food!

Later a few of the group went to the cinema to watch war of the worlds. They bought me a ticket too. I however surrendered it to Matthew as I felt I ought to spend a bit more time with my York friends, who didn't come for the party, but for me. And so James, Stacey, Charlotte, Simon and I all went to a nearby park and played phase 10 until 1am. I couldn't imagine a better 'goodbye' to Stacey from myself than that. All in all my reflections of the evening are that of a perfect one. Thanks to those who made it work!

People who deserve a mention...

Andrew Munzers family is fantastic. I was a security guard for a couple of hours at a opening ceremony at a jewellry shop owned by a friend of my father. The atmosphere was fantastic, and really friendly. Light laughter, lots of smiles, and pleasant language. Not just that though, but the fact that even as a security guard, they asked me to wear cufflinks that were over £1000 a pair. Staff modelled the jewellry that was to be sold, including a couple of necklaces at almost £30,000 pounds each. Yet it wasn't overwhelming to me. Growing up in a setting where there were always expensive items to see, I just accepted it as a part of my life. However, I did enjoy leaving, and finding out that the owner had just paid me £25 an hour. Blimey! I wish I could do this more often. Tomorrow however shall be just as fun, without all the glamour. An ice cream party at institute. What a wonderful idea!

What is it with 'mini punches' anyway

So Hayden introduced me to the world of mini punches. Basically, while you're travelling anywhere, if you see a mini, you give your friend a light punch and say "Mini Punch". I admit I get carried away though, and now even when I'm on my own, and I see a mini, I look around for somebody to hit. I was staying in Malton, North Yorkshire, which turned out to be one of the 'wettest' areas in the country that day. Emerging from church services in the afternoon, I noticed two things. Firstly; it was extremely humid, and secondly; it was rapidly getting darker. Well, Hayden and I were to take a bus home. Not a long ride, but as we journeyed, we watched the sky grow more intensely dark. After passing a few 'mini punches' back and forth the breeze started through the open windows of the bus. A breeze which carried with it the musky smell of dust and rain which is shortly going to arrive. Then it started, coming down at such an angle as to go through the open windows and get Hayden and I sufficiently wet without even having to go outside. Worse rain shortly followed. You could barely even see a few metres ahead, every direction yeilded grey vertical streaming lines. Just at that moment, the inevitable happened. Hayden reached over and pressed for the bus to stop. Dinnnngggggg! Every face turned and looked at us with an expression of accusation of insanity. We smiled and stood, and walked to the front, mumbling a few wordsto the driver before he stopped and opened the doors. We sprinted, in silence with only a constant steady roar of the rain hitting the ground, for what seemed like a minute. We were only, however, exposed for several seconds as we sprinted for the bus shelter, though we managed to get soaked from head to toe. Eventually it calmed, and we were free to walk home.

A coupe of hours later, I waited for a train. Silence. All trains cancelled due to severe weather.

Another nights stay in North Yorkshire

Too much junk food...

Seriously chums, fruit and veg is best. Well I went on it a few days ago, and the funny thing is; I don't acually remember most of the ride. I remember queing for a massive two hours as the ride broke down a couple of times. I remember some noisy welsh people shouting a lot as we queued. I remember getting on the ride and the suspense as we watched the racing lights illuminate. Then the rest is a blur. I remember accelerating faster than I have ever accelerated before, and the sheer thrill led to such an adrenaline and endorphin rush that I was drunken with excitement. I only remember the beginning of the ride and then a feeling as though I was flying for the next few minutes. A few minutes... the ride actually only lasted for thirty seconds, but the exhileration lasted for long after. Best ride ever? Well, in terms of the track design and the variety of twists and turns it wasn't. However, in terms of the way it makes you feel, I'd have to agree.

Unusually, life is like that aswell then. It's not variety. It's not the twists and turns that are important. It's the feelings you get, the good feelings as you do certain things.

Learning from everything around me. I love it!

LETS START BLOGGING AGAIN!!!

Well, I've had a really eventful week full of culture, laughs, fun and randomness with my friend Ashley from Canada.
We've done many things - From Going to institute and activities to Fountains abbey, Ripon, York, Ghost walks, Howarth, Fish and chip shops, curries, theme parks, italian meals with an italian backdrop, museums, and dances.
A lot was happening and I've had a really good time, and I'm hoping to become consistent with blogging again so I can say more about it. Sometimes they might get the wrong idea though. I come across as always being fun and happy all the time. Perhaps I am, but as in all people, there are depths which can't be found on the surface. I am almost always happy because I have charity and I have an almost endless ability to love everyone. I want them to be happy, and the easiest way I've found to help them be happy is by recognising them. Smiling at them and being fun. Does it always work? Who knows, but I get the impression that often people want to see a serious side. A side that is sober and thoughtful. I have that too in my heart, but if you've been looking for it and haven't seen it yet, perhaps you haven't known me very long. However, in those moments where I'm alone, and I have the chance to see sunrises, or the stars, or be in the countryside. I have that marvelous chance to ponder about life. Just myself and my prayers to God, and it's those moments when I learn to love not just other people, but myself and my maker more too. I've had a great week and learned a lot, and it's thanks to a culmination of good friends, fun activities, spiritual things, and knowing when to be alone for a few minutes

And the winners are...

Yes, last night was the institute variety show, and much fun was had by all. The evening was mostly musical - and how I wish now that I'd don'e the 'Billy got hit by the Bus' non musical skit. Hahaha. It would have been perfect. Oh well, another year will promise more variety... The show however was fantastic with contributions from many people. Uncontrolled laughter from Maria, ridiculous jokes from Johnny Bleakley, such as "Did you hear about the gay magician? - He disappeared with a puff!" Then there were the silly acts like 'The fireside song' and 'A spoon full of sugar'. What of the awards though? Well, here they are:

Most Eligible Batchelor - Mr Johnny Bleakley. Wonder how many people saw that coming?
Best Dressed at Institute - Mr Nathaneal Pickering. He hasn't bought any new clothes since his mission either.
Flirtiest Male - Mr Mike Maitland. Said she was only being nice to people
Guy of institute - Michael Green. Said he didn't know why
Gal of institute - Becky McCormack - Said she didnt know why
Cutest couple - Well, although I voted for the Elders, it went to Ben and anneliese. They said sacrifice was important.

For now though, institute is just about over until October. Booooooo! It's been a pleasure, we've covered a lot of doctrine, had a lot of laughs, and experienced another wonderful year. Thanks for George Jokl, and the Francoms for being fantastic teachers and George Rickford for being a great substitute teacher. Thanks to the wonderful musical people who made choir possible this year too. The Wonderful Emma Theakston, and Charlotte Evans - and our substitute pianists, Emily Reid and Hannah Smith. What bliss! The whole day was joyous alleviation. Of course, I arranged myself a day off work for the evening too which made everything work perfectly. The evening ended in quiet conversation with warm jazz playing in the background.

I was writing streaming thought the other day and I wrote about my 'chosen men', those of my closest friends. When reading it out I stated that, I didn't have any 'chosen women' yet, and good old Hannah Munzer asked if she could be one. Well, now she's enlisted, so well done. I suppose it can actually be as easy as just asking though. Thomas S Monson said, if you want people to be good friends to you. Ask them a favour. It's interesting. I've never asked anyone to be my friend before - but I've come to believe that by asking, we can develop powerful friendships - so I'm going to start.

Want to be a 'chosen man' or 'chosen woman?' just ask! I've been thinking lately about how we can live life to its fullest extent while keeping hold of all our standards and values, and you know what? It's really easy. It's so simple to have a great time if only we choose to. We dont need masses of people, equipment or time to have a good time. I suppose living life to the full has a different meaning for me. If I've lived my whole life and never been bunjee jumping, parachuting, snowmobiling or travelling, but I've spent my whole life being happy - should I have any regrets?
<http://www.ldslinkup.com/data/photos/full/41287_onz523x368.jpg">
The answer is no! Happiness is our main goal - 0ur main aim in life. Everything we do should be in persuit of happiness, and it mostly involves our disposition in the events we're faced with in life. If we've missed out on certain activities, never mind! We'll have plenty of time to make up for lost time in a wonderful eternity. Simple words I know, but dont worry if things dont work out. You're still loved, you're still the same person, and you still have more chances to have fun and do great things.

May the tenth was a long time ago...

Well, much has happened in five days. Life is good, and quite placid. Placid - theres a good word: adjective - having a calm appearance or characteristics. Things are quite calm. Naturally working nights stacking shelves isn't my idea of fun, but theres a peace beyond that which I'm currently enjoying.

I've been thinking lately about a poem by David O McKay;
"Tis human fortunes happiest height,
To be a spirit melodious, lucid, poised and whole,
Second in order of delight,
To walk with such a soul."
- I'm constantly trying to acheive that state of equilibrium in my life for want of a perfect happiness. However, I believe that merely by trying, I become that soul for others to walk with and find the next 'order of delight'

There was a dance the other day, my first in ages and I'm always scared to dance, because I can't. Looking around though, I saw a room full of people, most of whom probably felt exactly the same way - so I threw fear to the side and joined in and had a great time! The pinacle came when a friend of mine was nervous about talking to a young lady about an upcoming date, so in order to inspire him, I took one of the most beautiful ladies in the room and started dancing. It was great fun, and shortly thereafter he found the courage too.

It's amazing how we can help other people by stepping out of our own comfort zones and leading the way. I suppose it's the greatest example of humility. Not being a recluse and shying away, but standing boldly against that which you are afraid of. Fantastic lessons learned every day in every situation. I love it!

The innocence of children...

We've all made them. I have a book full of these mistakes, and I thought I'd put some down. I was stood in Leeds station before we went, and (this ties in with the 'Amazing world of people post) was looking at all the people around me. I started to wonder about why we found people so interesting. There didn't appear to be anything notable from the surface, but then a fleeting thought which expanded and gradually became quite awesome. I thought, I wonder what he's thinking right now. Then more people and more thoughts. What did they have for breakfast? What are their problems? Their strengths? Weaknesses? Talents? Who are their friends, and what do they think of them? Why is he upset? What type of music does she like?

I think that the most captivating thing about people is that we have no idea what is beyond the surface, and it takes time, sometimes lots of time to find out. We have also achieved so much since the beginning of time, and we all have the capacity to become great. Interesting stuff!

The amazing world of people

Well, in the site known as 'The Place' (there's a link on the side) I put a poll asking what captivated people the most. There were options such as History, philosophy, Music, Religious doctrine, nature etcetera... The thing that interested me most was that most people were saying that people impressed - or captivated and inspired them most.

Heres a little about me. I was blessed by my father when I was a baby, and he blessed me with lots of troubles. Unusual, but true.
I am about to have some cinnamon grahams.
Lately, I've been reading 'The Truth' by Terry Pratchett.
Yesterday I watched a programme about art and the human profile on tv.
I worked until this morning.
The last album I listened to was the very best of dire straits.
I believe my greatest quality is pure charity.
In family home evening yesterday, we read a story about being angels for people, from the New Era, and because my family are all daft, we found it quite funny.
The people who I have set out to cheer recently are Becky WInters and Daniel Ducker.
The people who have inspired me recently are Elray, Andy Munzer, Kieth Ezard, Charlotte Evans, Emma Theakston, Becky McCormack, Hayden Beaumont, Mike Maitland and Hannah Munzer.
I'm going now because we're about to read the scriptures as a family, but I want the cinnamon grahams before that.

My perceptive sister

Considering that I remember when my sister was born and I was eight years older than her, I've always looked at her as, dare I say, unintelligent. I think her IQ might possibly be through the roof though. I've always known that she was quick and witty (she's fourteen now) but I never knew how much she understood the things around her until yesterday. She pointed out to me one of my personality traits. It seemed I was always trying so hard to be at activities, or to do things time after time after time, only to have my plans fall apart at the last minute or be let down one way or another. I thought about this and realized how true it was. I also noticed that the 5-10% where things do work out gives me such a boost that I can take another bout of faliure until the next success. I find it interesting that my little sister, of all people, knows what is going on in my life and how I deal with it. Needless to say, I was impressed.
This got me thinking also about how many people we have some kind of influence over. Positive or negative. Every day of our lives. Thankfully, I've been doing the right thing in subduing the negative and emphasizing the positive. People therefore rarely see the faliure, only the success, and they can draw strength from the example you set. Thanks Tilly for the lesson!

The artwork of Julian Beever

I have put a new link on the side for you to see. This is the work of an artist who has really impressed me lately. His work is incredible. The way he uses perspective to make it look 3D is phenomenal. They were a term given to some notes written at 5am in the morning. A random stream of thoughts filled with all sorts of wisdom, humour, and probably quite a bit of nonsense too.

I work nights, so I usually sleep during the day, and today after church, a was trying to get to sleep. Perhaps it will be much harder to write at this time, because naturally, you'll be trying to stay awake, though I wish I'd have recorded my thoughts in some way. I found it really interesting how my mind was jumping from topic to topic to topic.

Some of the things I found myself thinking about most were how to improve my life. Perhaps I should increase my gospel study. What direction is my future career and education going to take? How can I help certain people this week. Will I be able to do anything fun?

Ok, these are all general questions, though the thoughts were much more specific. It has interested me though, so perhaps I'll create some of my own morning pages in the near future.

Just a quick thought tying in with todays Lessons... If you havent read the talk 'The inconvenient Messiah' by Jeffrey R Holland from February 1982, try to get it. It's really good.

A few quotes for fun

"I used to hate writing assignments, but now I enjoy them. As an artistic community - or one that hopes to be more artistic - we can all help to expand the horizons of his site. Blogger sites are really easy to build, and edit. As we put our own work on our own sites, he can place links on his. Therefore, less space taken up on his, enabling him to pick and choose from the best work we have. It's a great idea - and one he's been trying to push for a while. Hey, I didn't know I could make a website! I became a 'Blogger' to capture the thoughts, feelings, and wisdom of these extraordinary people. Indeed, I consider my family as friends and vice versa.

So here is where you'll find our more about me, my likes, my dislikes, pet peeves, taste in movies, music, the foods I like, the things I do, my ambitions etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...

I hope that this will also cut down on the forwards I'm constantly sent by e-mail... which is one of my pet peeves... because all the information you need is right here.

The King and I

The other day, I went to see The King and I with a friend. I'm always impressed with the performance, and find it greatly entertaining. Heres some interesting things picked out from it though...

If they only believe what they see, then why do we have a school teacher? - We as examples and teachers to other people must try to teach them what they cannot see. This requires faith, and begins with our own faith.

No man is big enough to be alone - Pride will get us if we don't watch out. We constanly need the lords help in everything we do in life. Also, I believe no-one can be happy in life without support from family and friends too.

When one does not know what to say, it is time to be silent - So often, we try to talk and express ourselves when silence is best. So much can actually be said, and is sometimes best said, without words.

I don't believe anyone has ever been as good a king as they could have been, but he tried - he tried very hard - None of us will ever be as good, as righteous, as obedient as we could have been, but it is important that we don't get discouraged and always KEEP TRYING! In the letter to Mrs. Anna from the king he said, All that matters about a man is that he tried his utmost best.

When you are afraid, make believe you are brave - The Lord tells us to "doubt not, fear not". Bravery in the face of fear is one of the most noble attributes we can develop. "Fear knocked, faith answered. No one was there

"Everyday, I do my best for one day more - Now here's a lesson for all of us, we only have to do our best for one more day - one day at a time

Now is always the best time - This is a page right out of President Kimballs teachings, Do it now

It is a true and ancient saying... When you become a teacher, by your pupils you'll be taught - As we all try our best to teach and help those around us, it's always interesting to find the lessons we take from 'our pupils'. Quite often, we'll see ourselves being taught and the quality of our own life improving as a result

There was lots more, but I'll let you watch it. The phrase in the play that summed everthing up, and will now sum this up.... Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...
